What a ripper of a weekend it is shaping up to be here in Raymond Terrace. Honestly, when the sun comes out like this and the temperature creeps up toward that gorgeous 27°C mark, there is nowhere better to be than right in your own backyard. Whether you have got the family coming over, a few mates dropping in for a swim, or you are simply planning to float around with a cold drink in hand, this is exactly the kind of weekend that reminds you why you invested in a pool in the first place.
Weekends like this do not come around just to be wasted inside. Get out there, fire up the barbecue, pull out the pool toys, and let the kids run wild. There is something genuinely special about a warm Saturday in the Hunter Valley region when the sky is clear and the water is sparkling. It is good for the soul, it is good for the family, and it is honestly one of the great joys of Australian life. A backyard pool is not just a luxury, it is the centrepiece of the whole experience.

We have had Ryan, Mick and their team working hard to finish our pool before Xmas. I highly recommend them...

Adam from Coastline helped us with our new pool. Great service #!$ advice. Pool was planned, approved and built before my friends was even approved.

I have been using Coastline Pools for about 5 years now, probably 2 years after I put my pool in. Then, being new to what to do to maintain my pool the Coastline staff at Raymond Terrace have been fantastic.

Coastline have been very prompt with ongoing regular pool maintenance and especially when we needed new equipment. We get a text before each maintenance visit which helps me to remember they are coming.

Coastline service our commercial pool on a regular basis. I would not trust it with anyone else. From the helpful ladies in the shop to the technicians, they are very professional in everything they do.

Now, while you are out there soaking it all in, it is worth sparing just a few minutes to give your pool a quick once-over before everyone jumps in. This does not have to be a big job at all. In fact, if your pool has been looked after regularly, it really is just a matter of checking a couple of things and then getting on with the fun. Start by skimming the surface to clear away any leaves or debris that might have drifted in overnight. It only takes a few minutes and it makes a huge difference to how the pool looks and feels.
Next, take a quick look at your water clarity. Good water should be clean and clear enough that you can easily see the bottom of the pool from the surface. If it is looking a little cloudy or you notice the colour is slightly off, that is worth paying attention to before everyone dives in. Cloudy water can sometimes indicate that the chemical balance is not quite where it needs to be, and on a hot day with lots of swimmers, that can become an issue fairly quickly.
Chemical balance is one of those things that sounds complicated but really is not once you get the hang of it. Ideally your pH should sit somewhere between 7.2 and 7.6, and your chlorine levels should be in the right range to keep the water sanitised without irritating anyone's eyes or skin. If you are unsure, grab a basic test kit from your local pool supplier or give us a call and we can talk you through it. A well-balanced pool on a hot day is an absolute pleasure to swim in.
Also worth checking quickly is your filter. Make sure it is running properly and that the pressure gauge is sitting within the normal range. On a day when you are expecting a lot of swimmers, it is a good idea to run the filter for a little longer than usual, perhaps an extra hour or two, to help keep the water clean and fresh throughout the day. Your pool works harder when it is being used heavily, so giving the filtration system a bit of extra run time is always a smart move.
Once you have ticked all that off, and honestly it should not take more than 10 or 15 minutes, you are all set to enjoy the rest of the day completely guilt-free. That is the beauty of staying on top of your pool maintenance regularly. When a beautiful weekend like this one rolls around, you are not scrambling to fix problems. You are already ahead of it, and the pool is ready to go.
For the builders and developers out there who are working with clients in the Raymond Terrace area, weekends like this one are a brilliant reminder of the value you are creating for people when you include a quality pool in your projects. Buyers absolutely notice. A well-designed outdoor space with a sparkling pool is one of the strongest selling points you can offer, and when potential buyers walk through on a sunny weekend and see that pool gleaming in the backyard, they picture their whole life in that home.
At Poolside Coastline, we work with both homeowners and builders right across the region to make sure pools are not just installed but properly maintained and kept in great condition for the long term.
